Before departing from Nigeria, I'll wait for the election tribunal's decision - Bode George

Chief Bode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, stated on Tuesday that he would wait to leave the country until the results of the presidential election petitions tribunal.

He revealed this while speaking on "The Morning Show" of Arise News Channel.

Before the presidential election on February 25, George had pledged to leave Nigeria if Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress won.

Nonetheless, Tinubu was declared the winner of the poll by the Independent National Election Commission, and the PDP leader has remained committed to leaving the country.

"As I'm getting close to 80, I can choose to live out the rest of my days in peace. Remember, I served in the Navy, I've traveled to practically every country in the world, and I can still choose to return to any location and live there in peace. All I need for my kids and grandchildren to be healthy is access to water, electricity, safety, and food.

I only need to leave partisan politics as soon as possible because for the past 25 years, I have been striving and fighting to make this country function.

"I'll determine when I leave; it's up to me. The match has not yet ended. We'll wait to see how the legal system rules. Although I have family here, that doesn't imply I'll never return to Nigeria. Will I immediately start looking for a new work if I say I'm going to be out and won't be here? Now, no one will hire me, he declared.
