Kanayo O Kanayo refers to Mr. Ibu as "Mr. Bean of Africa."
After colleague John "Mr. Ibu" Okafor passed away a few days ago, Nollywood veteran Kanayo O. Kanayo gave a heartfelt homage to him.
After fighting blood clot problems in his leg for months—which led to its amputation in November 2023—the actor passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024. According to reports from his manager, Don Single Nwuzor, he passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos, where he was undergoing treatment, following a cardiac arrest.
Following his tragic death, the comedic actor has received a lot of praise, and on Sunday, March 3, Kanayo O. Kanayo expressed his condolences.
He compared his late colleague to Africa's Mr. Bean, a comedic figure well-known for his outrageous exploits while remaining silent, in an Instagram post.
By conduct, John Okafor, better known by his stage name Mr. Ibu, is the best humorous actor. He made them laugh without having to say anything. He had a humorous demeanor and body language. He was the epitome of humor.
"May he be granted eternal rest by God, who called him home. When God sees you, He will grin. Good night, Mr. Ibu," he wrote.
Actor Mr. Ibu appeared in over 200 movies and will always be among the most well-liked comedians in Nollywood.
