Edo CJ examines the panel questioning Shaibu and removes two members.
Justice Daniel Okungbowa, the chief judge of Edo State, has examined the investigative panel that was established to look into the accusations made against Philip Shaibu, the state deputy governor.
This is a step in the procedures the legislature started to remove the deputy governor from office.
Prof. Violet Aigbokhaebo and Prof. Boniface Edegbai were removed from the revised list, which was made available to PUNCH Online in a letter signed by the chief registrar of the court, B.O. Osawaru, on Monday.
The panel is anticipated to start meeting in the upcoming days following the evaluation of the list, which was previously made public on Friday.
The Honorable S.A. Omonua (retd.) will continue to preside over the panel.
Prof. Theresa Akpoghome, Dr. Andrew Oliha, Oghogho Oviasu, Idris Abdulkareen, President Aigbokhian, and Mariam Ilavbare round up the group of members.

This is a follow-up to the resolution passed by the Edo State House of Assembly on March 19, 2024, and delivered to the state's chief judge.
"The members of the aforementioned panel consist of the following individuals: Professor Theresa Akpoghome, Oghogho Ayodele Oviasu, Dr. Andrew Oliha, Idris Abdulkareen, President Aigbokhian, and Mariam Erakhoba Ilavbare. The chairman of the panel is Hon. Justice S.A. Omonua (retd.)."
