Breaking: PDP, Labour Party demand INEC chairman's resignation

On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in Abuja, the parties made the decision.

On Monday, February 27, 2023, at the National Collation Center in Abuja, the parties demanded that the presidential election results of 2023 be canceled.
The LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, claimed INEC had compromised the election's integrity in a joint statement from the parties.

Nonetheless, the parties demanded new elections, claiming the current process was not fair or free. "We are therefore forced to say, in light of this event, that INEC tainted the integrity of these elections even before collation at the polling places started.

According to Section 60 Subsection 5 of the Electoral Act, the presiding officer must transfer the results in the manner specified by the commission, including the total number of accredited voters and the results of the ballots.

"Before results are declared, all results recently uploaded on the IReV site must be revised due to a failure to abide by the rules of the Election Act and the recommendations.

"INEC broke its pledge...

This election is far from being free, fair, or transparent.

"We demand that this fraudulent election be immediately cancelled and will not participate in the electoral process now taking place at the National Collation Centre.

"We also demand that a new election be held in conformity with the established INEC protocol."

We thus request Yakubu to relinquish his position, he stated.
