Breaking: Rioting youths set fire to a Lagos police station, injuring a cop

In the early hours of Monday, angry teenagers stormed a police station on Olayiwola Close in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, set it on fire, and injured a police officer on duty.

The motive for the attack could not be determined at the time of reporting this report, but our correspondent learned that the policeman, who suffered a head injury, was brought to the emergency unit at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for immediate treatment.It was learned that while the station was on fire, authorities from the Lagos State Fire Service were alerted and dispatched to the area to help.
The fire was extinguished, but a portion of the police station's structure was damaged. However, no weapons were taken.When contacted, state Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation into the issue had begun, but that "no suspect had been arrested."

Meanwhile, two alleged Yoruba Nation members were apprehended on Sunday during an attempted takeover of the Alausa Police Station in Ikeja.
During the raid, some 15 agitators got out their phones and began recording the station and themselves yelling, "No more Nigeria police again," and "Yoruba Nation has taken over in Yoruba land." Some police officers assigned to the station were attacked in an attempt to disperse the demonstrators.

In response, Hundeyin stated that police reinforcement was quickly dispatched to the location and that two of the agitators were captured while others escaped.

He also mentioned that the suspects had charms, cutlasses, and emblems from the gang.
