HIGH ALERT:Urgent warning to all parents as killer Victorian disease makes comeback with cases surging
Due to the measles outbreak in Britain, parents have been asked to update their children's immunization records. According to the UK Health Security Agency, the number of instances of the Victorian sickness from January to April was nearly equal to that of 2022 as a whole.
Between January 1 and April 20, 2023, there were 49 cases, as opposed to 54 for the entire year prior.
One of our most contagious viruses, the measles can result in pneumonia or even death.
Coughing, sneezing, and direct physical contact with an infected individual are the main ways it spreads.
The typical blotchy reddish brown rash is one among the symptoms, along with fever and painful, red eyes.
The extremely successful MMR vaccine, which is given to all young children, nearly wiped out the bug in the UK.
However, vaccination rates have dropped recently, and only 85% of five-year-olds have received all recommended vaccines, falling short of the 95% threshold required for herd immunity.
Steve Russell, head of NHS vaccines, stated: "I firmly advise parents to evaluate the status of their child's vaccinations as it is established that when vaccine uptake declines, infections rise.
"The vaccination programs offered by the NHS have repeatedly shown to be the most effective weapon in our arsenal against the spread of highly contagious diseases."
