Kidnappers seek N150m for the release of the Cross River commissioner

Kidnappers have demanded N150 million for the release of Cross River State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Prof Gertrude Njar, after eight days in captivity.

Prof. Gertrude Njar, the Cross River State Commissioner of Women Affairs, has been held captive for eight days, and her captors have demanded N150 million in exchange for her freedom.

Agba Jalingo, publisher of Cross Rivers Watch, posted an update about this on his official Facebook page.


Early on February 1st, the commissioner was kidnapped in Calabar South's Mayne Avenue-Atamunu neighborhood.

The PUNCH adds that Dr. Alfred Mboto, the Permanent Secretary for Special Duties, and the police were contacted after the tragic incident was announced to journalists by Eric Anderson, the Cross River State Commissioner for Information and Orientation.
