MC Olumo bans tax collection in some areas of Lagos following the Driver-Agbero conflict.

In the confrontation between commercial drivers and highway tax collectors who target commercial drivers, also known as agberos in the state, Musiliu Akinsaya, the chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Association and better known by his stage name Mc Oluomo, has interfered.

In some areas of the state, he has also outlawed the collecting of agberos' unlawful taxes,

Remember that on Thursday, commercial bus drivers protested agberos extortion on the streets of the state.

"Mac Oluomo instructed us Thursday afternoon when we met with him at the state council that no driver from Oshodi to Tollgate cannot be forced to pay unlawful agbero taxes any more. "We are only to buy two tickets in a day, after which we will not pay anything other than loading costs. " The standard ticket price that the Lagos State Park Administration accepts is merely N800. He claimed that the additional taxes levied at Agbado Ijaiye and Iyana Ipaja were no longer legal. Whichever location where we purchase our daily tickets—Oshodi or Tollgate—will be accepted.

"Following that, we'll pay the council ticket and the security booking, which will cost about N500," a driver stated.

He stated that MC Oluomo had declared that on Saturdays and Sundays, drivers would no longer be required to pay fines.

No driver should be required to purchase tickets on Saturdays and Sundays for weekend jobs, he argued.

"The union shouldn't require us to purchase tickets outside of Monday through Friday. We should be allowed to bring something back to our family.

He continued by saying that MC Oluomo also gave N1 million to those hurt in the assault on the drivers who were protesting.

He was happy that dreivers could resume their jobs today "with little agbero disruptions." "There are no longer any oppressive taxes. In contrast to the N20,000 we previously paid, all we have to pay each day is a little under N2,500," he noted.
