Muslims and masqueraders in Osun reach a truce before the Egungun festival

According to a statement released in Osogbo on Thursday and signed by the command's spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, the two men concurred to maintain peace throughout the festival during a meeting called at the CP's request.
The Esuleke masquerade followers and members of the Kamaudeen Mosque have a history of violent conflicts, the most recent of which being the horrific brawl on Sunday, June 27, 2021, which left one member of the mosque dead and nine others injured.
Longe, who emphasized the importance of embracing peace at the discussion, also cautioned that the command would not tolerate any actions that could result in a breach of the public peace in order to prevent a recurrence.
