Adewale Adelu, a pastor, and five other people—Ikechuckwu Maduagwu, Fayemi Olubusuyi, Ropo Adeleye, Dele Otopka, and Bayo Omotosho—are among the prisoners.

On November 19 and December 8, 2011, respectively, in Akure and Idanre, they were convicted guilty of robbing two commercial banks.

The men from the state police command took them into custody and filed charges against them. Tuesday was the day the court read the verdict.

The defendants were remanded in Olokuta Correctional Center after being arraigned before the court on four counts of conspiracy, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms at the start of the trial.

At Oyemekun Road, Akure, the convicts and others "armed with AK 47 guns, dynamite, and other weapons conspired to attack and rob a branch of Diamond Bank Plc, after which they went away with a sum of N30 million and different brand of phones, including other valuable property," the prosecuting attorney, F.K. Salami, told the court. The defendants were also accused of robbing First Bank Plc at Yaba Road, Idanre, on December 8, 2011, at 2:00 PM, and taking off with a further N4 million. "Sections 6b, 1 2a, and b of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11, Vol. 14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004" are violated, according to the prosecution.
Throughout the course of the case, witnesses were called before the court to testify, and both the prosecution and defense teams presented arguments.

The prosecution established its case beyond a reasonable doubt, according to Justice Yemi Fasanmi's ruling on Tuesday.

The court added that all of the accused had confessed to their respective roles in the robberies.

Justice Fasanmi "sentenced all the defendants to death by hanging in each of the counts" in order to achieve this.
In 2021, Akintola was captured by the police and Amotekun command in Ondo town after robbing three people of their money and belongings with the use of cutlasses and other hazardous weapons.

Later, he was charged with and appeared in court on five counts, two of which included armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
