PEPC: Obi fails to appear in court as Abure takes the witness stand
Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the recently held elections, was conspicuously absent from the tribunal hearing.
The troubled chairman of the LP, Julius Abure, claimed that he was filling in for the petitioner, Peter Obi, when the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsammani, asked for the introduction of petitioners and responders at 9:34 a.m.
Along with the APC Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, identified themselves as the first responders.
According to report, Justice Haruna Tsammani, the tribunal's chairman, will deliver the decision on Wednesday with assistance from Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.
The petitions, with the following filing numbers: CA/PEPC/03/2023, CA/PEPC/05/2023, and CA/PEPC/04/2023, were submitted to the court by the candidates for the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi; the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), respectively.
The results of the presidential election held on February 25 were published on March 1 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, with Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress coming out on top among the other 17 contenders.
In order to defeat the two leading candidates, Alhaji Atiku of the PDP came in second with a total of 6,984,520 votes and Mr. Obi of the LP came in third with a total of 6,101,533 votes, it was declared that Tinubu received a total of 8,794,726 votes.
Both Atiku and Obi petitioned the court to have the election results thrown out because they were unhappy with the results.
