PEPC UPDATE: Judge begins with fourth petition

The Independent National Electoral Commission, the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and Kabiru Masari are listed as the first through fifth respondents.

The petitions, with the filing dates of CA/PEPC/03/2023, CA/PEPC/05/2023, and CA/PEPC/04/2023, respectively, were submitted to the court by Peter Obi, a candidate for the Labour Party; Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party; and the Allied Peoples Movement.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared on March 1 that Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress had defeated 17 other candidates to win the presidential election held on February 25.

In order to defeat the two leading candidates, Atiku of the PDP, who finished in second with a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Obi of the LP, who took third with a total of 6,101,533 votes, it was declared that Tinubu scored a total of 8,794,726 votes.

Atiku and Obi both petitioned the court to have the election results thrown out because they were unhappy with the results.
