Pochettino: Chelsea made MISTAKES after spending a whopping £1 billion on transfers.
Blues saw 40 players transfer in and out of Stamford Bridge throughout the summer. The Blues are currently 11th in the Premier League, with three victories from ten games this season.
Todd Boehly's new-look squad showed early flashes of promise in preseason, winning the inaugural Premier League Summer Series despite defeats to Brighton, Newcastle, and Fulham. Chelsea, on the other hand, are struggling for form and goals following a 2-0 home defeat to Brentford.
Poch attributes this to the huge number of ins and outs during the transfer window. This summer's revamp resulted in a turnover of 40 players, with Chelsea signing 12 and disposing 28, bringing their total spending to £1 billion.
Pochettino believes it is a major factor in his team's troubles. And he believes it will take time for his new team of young players to gel. However, Poch has told Boehly that Chelsea cannot afford to make the same "mistakes" of ripping things up root and branch again.
"Things that go against you, you have to try to resist and survive," he explained. "You must be silent and strong. And to keep your cool since it is all too easy to blame or say something that will damage others and cause division in the club. "The crucial thing is to believe the thoughts, judgment, and analysis of why certain things did not occur."To assist the organization in becoming better and improving, and to avoid repeating the same mistakes."The most essential thing to remember is to learn from your mistakes. I believe we are a youthful team at the moment.
"A young team means too many changes in the summer because of the circumstances and we are suffering - sometimes good and bad results, but performances are consistent."
Pochettino also defended Nicolas Jackson, who came under fire from supporters following a poor performance against Brentford.
Alan Shearer of Match of the Day also criticized the striker.
"I think Nico, if you watch the game against Liverpool or Dortmund in pre-season, or Luton, he was doing what the analysis was about and what we expect," Poch explained.
"However, due to a variety of factors, Nico is not at his best today." For many reasons, but we need to find the player who was.
"This type of analysis is extremely dangerous because it is only one game." I won't lie, it wasn't his best work, but we have to be fair. If you watch Luton Town, Dortmund in pre-season, or Liverpool, you will notice that this is one player.
"The Brentford game was a different player." I agree with the analysis, however it is not fair to suggest that he is incapable of performing the tasks that we require of him.
"I have faith in him." The only issue is a lack of time. I don't want to reveal specifics, but he arrived at Chelsea in a difficult situation.
"Perhaps players with more time than Nico aren't performing as well as we would want. We must give him time; he certainly meets the criteria.
"Nico is young; he arrived this season, and circumstances did not allow him to perform to his full potential." What are our options? Throw him out and declare him useless? Come on, we need to instill trust in him."
