Popular Traditional worshipper activist, Tani oloun, remanded in kwara prison for defaming Emir of Ilorin, 0thers
Adegbola Abdulazeez, also known as Tani olohun (Who is God), is a well-known traditional activist and devotee who was recently detained and imprisoned in Kwara State on charges of defamation.
Talolorun, a popular Isese activist, was arrested in Ibadan on August 16 for insulting the Emir of Ilorin, among other offenses. The activist was taken to a police station in Ilorin and charged to court. A video released on Thursday showed Taniolorun discussing the outcome of a prior meeting between Isese practitioners, their lawyer, and the police on the ban placed on Isese festivals in Ilorin
Talolorun questioned why the commissioner of police, the Emir of Ilorin, and everyone closely involved in the case have been served court papers. He argued that the proposed August 20th Isese day will hold even though the emirs have connived with the police to stop the celebration. He urged supporters to stop advocating for Isese devotees to stay away from Ilorin and that there is another law besides the Nigerian constitution that allows all people to worship.
A lawyer, Abdulkadir Ademola Ajasa, shed light on the reason behind Talolorun's arrest, stating that the issue does not have a relation to Isese. He said that the reason he was arrested is that he defamed the character of those mentioned earlier and has always been inciting the public to go against Ilorin based on the atrocity he committed when he burned the Quran.
Another cleric confirmed the lawyer's statement, saying that Talolorun insulted Muslim leaders and that this needs to be curtailed.
