Why I celebrated like Adesanya after UFC victory— David Onama

Onama, who had a professional MMA record of 11 wins and 2 defeats, had planned his homage to Adesanya long before his bout against Gabriel Santos, who had a professional MMA record of 10 wins and 2 losses.

At the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Onama demonstrated his skill and commitment by delivering a powerful second-round knockout that defeated Santos.

Onama imitated Adesanya's famed winning gesture from his UFC 287 title win against Alex Pereira in April, which delighted onlookers. Following Santos' defeat, Onama graciously imitated Adesanya's performance by pulling out an imaginary bow and launching arrows at his downed opponent to pay honor to Adesanya's outstanding abilities.

"That's my guy, Izzy," Onama told MMA Junkie and other media at the post-fight news conference for the UFC on ABC 5. "Izzy fought a Brazilian, and I thought to myself, 'I'm going to do what Izzy did.'" 'I'm going to knock this kid out and then celebrate like Izzy.' And it showed," Onama explained.
