A 29-year-old wins the Imo House of Representatives race
The All Progressives Congress candidate, Akarachi Amadi, 29, was declared the winner of the Saturday supplementary election for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday night.
The APC candidate received the most votes, according to the Federal Constituency Returning Officer, Prof. Boniface Okoro, who announced the results at the collation center for the federal constituency, which is located in Nworuibi in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
Okoro said that Uche Ogbuagu of the Labour Party, Amadi's closest competitor, received 18, 296 votes to Amadi's 21, 372 total votes.
The incumbent and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Henry Nwawuba, garnered 7, 202 votes, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Usmond Ukanacho, polled 6,681 votes, Chinonso Uba of the African Democratic Congress scored 4, 100 votes, while Godstime Chukwunuikem of the Social Democratic Party got 246 votes.
There was wild jubilation in the area immediately after the 29-year-old was returned as the winner of the election.
