A tribute to Nollywood TV legends, the Olóládé Series
More information regarding the much awaited production has surfaced since Olóládé, a Netflix original series, was announced. The show is set to premiere on November 24.
The title and synopsis were added by Netflix recently, and they say, "Two friends unexpectedly become rich in unexpected ways." It seemed too good to be true—that is, until they become embroiled in a lethal plan involving money laundering.
Producing the show is TNC Africa, an innovative production company that was established in 2021 with the audacious goal of using TV to tell original African stories. Olawale Adetula, the company's co-founder and CEO, characterizes Olóládé as a tribute to iconic Nollywood television shows.
He continues, "We are a tech and data-enabled firm, and our research indicates an increasing appetite for content that is straight TV drama, like many of us grew up watching. We think that no matter where or how someone speaks, a well-written tale will find an audience. We anticipate that Olóládé will raise interest in and ultimately result in the creation of more high-quality original material created in Nigeria's native tongues."
In a same vein, series director Adeniyi Joseph Omobulejo, often known as TAJ, stated that "Olóládé will bring back a lot of memories for you." At its core, it's a good story. You can anticipate drama developing and people who are likable and well-developed—in my opinion, this is what excellent storytelling should be all about."
Olóládé has an amazing cast that includes both up-and-coming talent and seasoned industry titans. Kunle Idowu, better known as Frank Donga (Hakkunde), Femi Adebayo, who gained notoriety for his Netflix hit "Jagun Jagun," Mercy Aigbe (Omo Ghetto-The Saga), Mide Martins (Onitemi), Debby Felix, Adebowale Adedayo, also known as Mr. Macaroni, Liz Da-Silva (Alakada: Reloaded), Jaiye Kuti (Mofe Ni Mofe), and Damilola Oni are among the lineup. Olanrewaju Ayanwale and Oluwatobi Olubiyi, better known as Oli Ekun, are two other relatively recent additions to the cast.
TNC Africa is quickly taking the lead in changing the narrative landscape of the African and Nigerian film industries. The group, which is committed to capturing the diversity and richness of the continent, has already made a name for itself with two highly regarded productions: Little Black Book and My Name Is A-zed. TNC Africa's dedication to excellence was furthered by the two shows' notable nominations in the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for Best TV Series and Best Writing.
As "Olóládé" is ready to launch on Netflix on November 24, audiences can expect an engrossing trip into the core of Nollywood, a celebration of classic storytelling, and an illustration of the depth of African storylines.
