ACCIDENT: Four injured as gas cylinders exploded in Lagos state
Four persons were injured in varied degrees after gas cylinders exploded in the Lagos State neighborhood of Ijaiye, Agege.
The explosion happened in the early hours of Monday in a shop that was storing gas cylinders.
While confirming the occurrence, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, stated that one of the gas cylinders exploded due to gas leaking and caught fire.
He stated that no lives were lost and that the injured patients, who included three girls and one male, had second-degree burns.
Osanyintolu further revealed that the patients were immediately attended to by the Agency's prehospital care, in addition to LASAMBUS.
"The victims have also been transferred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH," he said.
"The inferno has been completely extinguished thanks to the combined efforts of LASEMA LRT and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service."The Agency's LRT, in collaboration with LASG Fire, conducted a post-incident evaluation. To prevent a secondary occurrence, the business has been roped off."
