APC candidate Bago wins the Niger government election.

Bago won in 20 of the 25 Local Government Areas and received a total vote count of 469,896, according to the state collation officer, Professor Clement Allawa, who announced the results in Minna on Monday.

I, Professor Clement Allawa, officially attest that I served as the returning officer for the March 18, 2023, governorship election.

"I pronounce that Umar Mohammed Bago of the APC is officially declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Niger State having satisfied the conditions of the law."

He claimed that Isah Liman Kantigi, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party and the APC's closest competitor, won with 387, 476 votes in 5 local government areas.

The lone female candidate in the election, Khadijat Abdulahi, who ran on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, received 1,746 votes, while Yahaya Mohammed of the New Nigeria People's Party finished in third with 3,378 votes overall.

In addition, he stated that there were 899 488 registered voters overall, whereas 889 956 ballots were actually cast.
