Government of Edo expands its free bus services
The Edo State government has declared that all Edo City Transport Service buses will continue to provide free bus service on all of their routes through Friday, February 24.
Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, provided a statement on behalf of the administration in which it said the extension was required due to the state's residents' continuing financial hardship.
The announcement states, "The free bus service by all Edo City Transport Service (ECTS) buses has been extended by His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, till Friday, February 24, 2023.
"The extension was required because the state's residents' financial hardship has persisted unabatedly.
The administration urges the populace to maintain calm and uphold the law because normalcy will soon return while it intensifies efforts to find a long-lasting solution to this problem.
To lessen the pain caused by the inhabitants' inability to use the new naira, the Edo state administration on February 16 started a five-day free bus service that will last until February 20. However, the state decided to prolong the free transportation services until February 24 due to the ongoing crisis.
