Israel has imposed a total blockade on Gaza.

This action comes after Israel formally declared war on Gaza on Sunday, indicating the likelihood of even more combat and a land assault into Gaza.

According to Al Jazeera, the severe bombing has forced more than 120,000 Palestinians to evacuate their homes in the beleaguered Palestinian territories.

The situation on the ground remains perilous, with Israeli tanks and drones intensively guarding border fence holes in order to prevent further infiltrations into their area.
Since 2007, when Hamas gained power from opposing Palestinian factions, Israel and Egypt have maintained varying levels of siege on Gaza.

Despite worldwide condemnation, Israeli officials have justified their conduct, maintaining control over border towns. The main military spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, addressed the media, disclosing that, while there have been isolated events on Monday, October 9, 2023, there is no active fighting in the villages at this time. He did, however, warn that there could still be terrorists in the area, emphasizing the need for increased vigilance.

The toll on civilians has been terrible, with both sides paying dearly.

According to Associated Press sources, around 700 people have been killed in Israel, while almost 500 have died in Gaza. The Israeli military has admitted hitting over 1,000 targets in Gaza, including airstrikes that destroyed large areas of Beit Hanoun, a community in Gaza's northeast corner.
