Lagos police officers seen assaulting a man for allegedly refusing to open his phone during a stop and search
A team of police officers have been captured assaulting a young man who allegedly refused to open his phone during a stop and search in Oko Oba area of Lagos State. It was gathered that the unfortunate incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2023. According to the victim, he was driving with his friend when the police stopped them and with ‘no tangible reason’ demanded to search their phones. When he refused, he was dragged and a$$aulted by at least three policemen, two in uniforms and one in mufti, as seen in the video clips the victim shared online. Meanwhile, reacting to the videos, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, asked the image maker of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, to investigate and fist out the officers.
