Man United are willing to give Harry Maguire a £10 million pay-off to leave in the summer transfer window, as clubs refuse to match the star's salaries.
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay Harry Maguire £10 million to depart the club this summer. Before the arrival of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford last summer, the Red Devils skipper, 30, had already endured a slump in form.
The England international's problems persisted at the start of this season, and he now finds himself on the bench on a regular basis.
Despite being linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain, as exclusively disclosed by Sun Sport, the defender has stated that he is happy at United.
According to the Daily Mail, Saturday's FA Cup Final against Manchester City is "likely to be Maguire's last game as a United."
The centre-back joined from Leicester City in 2019 for £85 million.
Because he only has two years left on his contract and because of his age, his worth has risen to about £30 million.
According to this new report, he earns roughly £190,000 each week at United.
And he could only expect to earn about half that amount at any new club.
As a result, United would have to "foot a £10m wage bill to get him off their books."
Under Ten Hag, Maguire has only started 16 of United's 61 games in all competitions this season.
For the bulk of the season, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been first-choice, but Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw, who is typically a left-back, have also been favored centrally over Maguire.
When asked about Maguire, Ten Hag confessed on Monday that "no one would be happy with this situation - he is not as well."
