Nigeria Immigration Service will place a greater emphasis on passport insurance and employee wellness.
Caroline Adepoju, the recently appointed Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has committed to enhance employee welfare and passport insurance.
As a result, Adepoju urged all passport offices nationwide to take the required steps to guarantee that no Nigerian was subjected to undue delays or inferior treatment while applying for a passport.
This is according to a statement published on Tuesday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Comptroller of Immigration, Mr Tony Akuneme.
When she addressed top NIS management minutes after taking over from Alhaji Isah Jere, her immediate predecessor, the Ag. CG read the riot act.
Adepoju stated that she will prioritize passport difficulties and employee welfare, as these two factors accounted for the majority of complaints from Nigerians and NIS officers. She indicated that a stakeholders meeting would be held in the next days to examine the fundamental challenges in the passport process and to propose long-term solutions. This, she said, would entail creating more front offices in Lagos, where the majority of the complaints came from. Adepoju also stated that she would handle officer welfare from the bottom up."We will begin by meeting with all cadres of staff to hear their genuine needs in order to launch with a blue print based on an all inclusive needs assessment," she said.
The Ag CG thanked the immediate past CGIS for his contributions to the service throughout his tenure and prayed for God's guidance in his future endeavors.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Adepoju served in numerous locations throughout her career with the NIS.
She was the Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Finance before to her appointment.
