Nollywood actress Omoseyin receives a N5 million bail; her trial begins on April 3.

Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, a Nollywood actress, was granted bail in the amount of N5 million on Wednesday by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. She also provided one surety in the same amount.

The Nollywood actress was accused of spraying and tampering with fresh naira bills.

Omoseyin was charged with two counts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and appeared in court on Monday before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke.

The charges amounted to trampling on and spraying the freshly printed naira notes.

The defendant, a 31-year-old man, was accused of spraying and stepping on a total of N100,000 in brand-new notes during an incident in the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos.

However, she had entered a plea of not guilty to the accusation, and the court had postponed making a decision on her bail request until Wednesday (today).
Justice Aneke granted the defendant bail in the amount of N5 million with one surety in the same amount in his decision on Wednesday.

The surety must be a public employee with a grade level of 12 or higher, the court ruled. He must own land that is subject to the court's jurisdiction.

Additionally, the surety must present a three-year tax clearance certificate.

The defendant was also instructed to leave her international passport in the custody of the court registrar.

The trial date was set for April 3 by the judge.
The defendant was accused of committing the crime on January 28 at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, as stated in the charge.

The defendant, according to the prosecutor, Mr. S.I. Sulaiman, was dancing at a gathering when he allegedly sprayed and trampled on newly designed naira notes.

The Central Bank Act of 2007's Section 21 (1) is violated by the offense.

Recall that the defendant was detained following the release of a viral video showing her stepping on and spraying new notes during a party.
