The court instructs OAP Dotun to refrain from mentioning D'banj.
In his continuing custody fight for their children, Nigerian on-air celebrity Kayode Oladotun, aka Dod2tun, is now legally compelled to keep his ex-wife's brother Dbanj's name out of his mouth.
In court filings submitted by D'banj's lawyer, Toheeb Lawal, he asked a Federal Capital Territory Chief District Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, to stop the event host from publishing negative comments about him on social media. The paperwork, dated October 18, 2023, and signed and stamped by an Honourable Emmanuel Iyana, have barred Dotun and anybody else from discussing the singer.
According to a portion of the document, "An order restraining the defendant (Do2dtun) either by himself, servants, privies, cohorts, representatives or any person deriving authority from him from further making any malicious, intimidating or defamatory post directing at the complainant (D'banj) on any social media platform (X, Instagram, etc.) or news media."
Furthermore, the court ordered the force intelligence bureau's deputy inspector of police to investigate a criminal complaint made by D'banj against Dotun and report back within two weeks. The hearing was then postponed until October 30.
All of this occurred as a result of Dotun's continuing custody battle with his ex-wife, Taiwo Omotayo, over their two daughters. The former claimed that Taiwo violated their previous custody agreement by refusing to allow him to see their children. Taking to Instagram, he began dragging her and, in the process, dragging her brother as well, stating that he was assisting Taiwo.
Taiwo responded that she does not restrict him from visiting their girls and that he has access to them whenever he wants. She also apologized to her brother for the online shame caused by Dotun's actions.
This is not the first time Dotun has drawn D'banj into his divorce proceedings. She filed for divorce in 2022, claiming unending reckless emotional abuse, forced abortion, and vicious domestic violence. During that tumultuous time, Dotun reportedly accused the singer of aiding in the spread of false stories about him.
