Ogun state pastor arrested for kidnapping and false prophecies

In an exclusive interview with PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, the Ogun State Police Command said that the victim had gone to the church to see to her sick sister when the pastor told her that if she refused to have sex with him, she would die on her wedding day.

Additionally, the preacher was accused of saying that any guy who attempted to engage in sexual activity or have a relationship with a woman other than himself would likewise perish.

Our correspondent discovered through the command that the lady was supposedly seized by the prophet on February 2, 2023, and taken to an undisclosed location, causing the family to suffer and become disorganized. This occurred after the purported deception and predictions.

The victim's uncle, Aliu Yusuf, reported to the police that, following more than seven months of alleged kidnapping, Blessing's account of how Sunday was taken to his family home in Ilaro and then to a hotel, where he was accused of having several, unconsented sexual encounters with her, shocked the family. Blessing returned home on November 5, 2023. Omolola Odutola, a public relations officer for the state police, announced the arrest of the suspect and stated he had admitted to the offenses and would face legal action.

A spokesman for the command also revealed that the victim had been admitted to the hospital after exhibiting symptoms of a mental illness.

After being taken into custody, the suspect confessed to the crimes upon being questioned. He's under our arrest right now, and after the investigation is finished, he'll face legal charges.

In a phone interview on Tuesday, Odutola said, "The victim, on the other hand, had been taken to the hospital for medical examination after showing a psychological problem, or probably a psychiatric problem."
