Oodua People Congress OPC Leader Over Malpractices
On Monday, the Oyo State branch of the Oodua People's Congress said that Rotimi Oguntade, the organization's former coordinator, had been fired for engaging in organizational irregularities. Wasiu Adeogun, the state secretary, announced this in a statement.
Adeogun added that attitudes that have the potential to harm the OPC's reputation in the state were a factor in Oguntade's departure, coupled with that of Lateef Babalola, the state commandant.
He said that the National Executive Council and National Coordinating Council, the organization's two highest decision-making bodies, approved their expulsion, and that this decision is still in effect.
We cannot close our eyes to the numerous immoral actions of the former coordinator of the OPC in the state, he asserted.
"Comrade Rotimi Olumo's removal as the OPC's Oyo state coordinator is no longer news.
"The NEC/NCC decided to dismiss him after it became clear that he had engaged in organizational malpractices."By claiming in the media that he had been fired as the state's OPC coordinator without cause and admaning that he still held the position, he further dug his own grave.
Such actions were unethical, and they simply served to highlight his extreme need.
That is the height of his desperation, and the OPC as a socio-cultural organization will never permit such desperate persons to head the organization, according to Adeogun, who questioned why Olumo continued to showcase himself as the coordinator despite being fired.
The scribe went on to say that the OPC in Oyo State is still operational and that all of the organization's activities there are well organized.
"OPC is not about a particular person. It is a company that has persevered through many difficulties, particularly during the lean years of the military. We therefore have a national perspective, and the organization's leadership has effectively coordinated our activities and organizational structure, " he said.
