Otti urges the departing PDP administration to refrain from inciting violence in Abia
Dr Otti urged parents and guardians to restrain their children, wards, and loved ones from being used as agents of violence by the outgoing government.
Dr. Alex Otti, the newly elected governor of Abia State, says he is disappointed by the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) terrible use of threats of violence and terrorism against the Abia people in the wake of its crushing defeat by the Labour Party (LP) in the recently held general elections.
In a statement released on Saturday by his special media assistant, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Dr. Otti claimed that the recent acts of the Abia government were an intentional attempt to incite fear among the public.
The workforce, which continues to endure unspeakable suffering at the hands of the state as a result of several months' worth of unpaid salaries, according to Otti, is the group most specifically targeted in an effort to pit them against him.
"Nigerians would recall that just a week after Dr. Otti was named the new governor of Abia, the outgoing administration, led by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, falsely accused Otti of arranging for a court order to freeze the State's accounts in several Nigerian deposit money institutions.
The State Government yelled in a fit of rage, "The danger in this macabre dance is that sooner or later, the atmosphere of peace and security carefully maintained, enjoyed, and even taken for granted by some Abians will suddenly evaporate, giving way to a new wave of killings." We view this as a serious threat to the state's residents.
"Despite Dr. Otti's explanation that he was unaware of the court case, government officials have continued to threaten the populace and the newly elected governor with violence for no apparent reason other than the fact that Otti was the driving force behind their current overthrow and the effective closure of the Government House and public treasury against them. Even though the injunction was annulled on April 6, the government has steadfastly refused to pay anyone, falsely citing the blocked account.
"Up to this point, Dr. Otti's actions have not been linked to any documented acts of hostility or threat towards the Abia State Government. Unfortunately, the PDP has only used lies, blackmail, threats, and intimidation against the Abia governor-elect.
The PDP has allegedly accused Dr. Otti of inviting General Yakubu Gowon (Ret.) to attend his inauguration as governor in Abia State in order to pray. This is the latest attempt by the PDP to mislead the populace and create hatred. The PDP further garnished a deliberate untruth, conjuring the repugnant memories of the military coups of the past and the murder of General Aguiyi-Ironsi, Nigeria's first military Head of State, which sparked the bloody Nigerian Civil War that resulted in the deaths of millions of Igbos.
It is crucial that we state the following for the benefit of the good people of Abia State, in especially Nigerians, and for the records:
