Oyo SDP Gov Candidate step down in Favor of Makinde
The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State, Michael Lana, has stood down and backed Governor Seyi Makinde for a second term of office.
This revelation was made by Lana to the media on Tuesday in Ibadan.
According to Lana, Makinde is still the greatest choice for the state at this crucial moment, in contrast to rumors in some quarters that the former attorney general of Oyo had endorsed another candidate.
Makinde, who is nearing the end of his term in office, is running for reelection on the Peoples Democratic Party platform, which helped him win that position in 2019. (PDP).
"After multiple meetings, we determined that the best thing for Oyo state right now is to identify ourselves with a truly progressive candidate. We were actually moved by an impassioned speech made by a 70-year-old woman who said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Seyi Makinde not only immediately paid her pension, but also took care of the elderly men and women. This is the character attribute of a guy who has made it his mission to make history and guarantee the elevation of the underprivileged in our state.
After talking with him, we came to the conclusion that in order to realize his goals for our state, His Excellency Emeritus, Engr Seyi Makinde requires assistance from all qualified individuals both inside and outside the state, and we must do our part to give it to him.
So, we have decided to urge all of our fervent followers to cast a large number of votes for His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)," Lana said.
