On the most recent episode of her podcast, TokeMoments, which had Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo as a guest, Makinwa made this disclosure.

Recall that Makinwa wed fitness entrepreneur Maje Ayida in 2014, but they later divorced after Makinwa learned that Ayida had fathered a child with his ex-girlfriend.

The media celebrity claimed that if it weren't for their children, she would have been "one of the women" who stayed in marriage.

"I sometimes think it's because of their children that many women stay in unhappy marriages. Women have been saying things like, "The marriage is over, but I only stay for my kids," for a very long time.

And if I had a child when I was married, I might have been one of those ladies, if I'm being completely honest. because I also had the trauma of losing both of my parents when I was eight. I was adopted, and while I am grateful for my wonderful life and adoption, there have been times when I have pondered what my life may have been like without it.

So, in order to ensure that my kids got both their parents, I may have had to make a compromise. One of these women might have been me. I'm not even passing judgment on anyone at this time, she remarked.

In response, her guest Ojo that she too would have stayed married if she had a better grasp of life and had been older.
I was young at the time, she remarked. Many of the decisions I made, if I had been this age, I probably would not have made. because I've matured and gained a deeper comprehension of life.

"I feel more exposed and educated now. However, I was coming from a place where I had previously suffered harm as a youngster. When you come from a highly wealthy family yet have to raise yourself, how do you feel? things of the sort.

"I didn't know my parents growing up. My father, my grandmother, and his brothers were my roommates. My grandmother served as my mother. My father was more like a brother and friend than a typical father. He was like an uncle to me since he lived life to the fullest and had little time for me.

"I didn't even know what they called'mummy,' I didn't know I had a mother; I first met my mother when I was about seven. I grew up in that kind of circumstance. My brother and I are the only children my parents have together; they were never married.
