Update on Declan Rice's injury
On Sunday, Arsenal drew 2-2 with Tottenham, and the £105 million summer transfer played only 45 minutes.
Rice, 24, was substituted at halftime for Jorginho.
Mikel Arteta confirmed after the game that he was subbed out due to a back ailment.
"He had some back discomfort," the manager explained. He was complaining about his discomfort during the first half, and when we examined him at halftime, he couldn't continue, so we had to change him."It's odd when a player like him requests to go because he's uncomfortable."There was hope that the problem would not be long-term, and more tests conducted yesterday provided positive news for Arsenal.
Rice is expected to be available for Saturday's Premier League match at Bournemouth.
Arsenal travels across London tomorrow to face Brentford in the Carabao Cup, and the midfielder is unlikely to play. Rice was unlikely to start anyhow, since Arteta intended to rotate his starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka was hauled off as a precaution near the end of the Spurs game.
Leandro Trossard, like Rice, is expected to return against Bournemouth. Gabriel Martinelli and Thomas Partey are still in the treatment room with Jurrien Timber, who is expected to be out for several months due to an ACL injury.
