A British-Nigerian minister was suspended for referring to Israel's acts as genocide.

Osamor was suspended on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day for accusing Israel of genocide.

In her weekly newsletter, the minister said that Gaza should be included among the "recent genocides," which incited anger.

"Tomorrow is Holocaust Memorial Day, an international day to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, the millions of other people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups and more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and now Gaza," she wrote on X, posting a photo of herself signing the Holocaust Education Trust's commemoration book in Westminster.

Holocaust Memorial Day is a day to remember the six million Jews who were slain in the Holocaust and the subsequent genocides, Osamor wrote in an apology that he later uploaded on social media on Friday night.

"I apologize if my mention of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza during that time of remembrance offended anyone."

In response to her contentious statements, the Holocaust Educational Trust, the Jewish Labour Movement, and the Board of Deputies all took action.

Kate Osamor has been suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party by the Chief Whip while an investigation is conducted, a Labour source revealed to MailOnline on Sunday night.

"The International Definition of Antisemitism, adopted by the Labour Party, lists comparing Israel to Nazis as an example of antisemitism," a representative for the Campaign Against Antisemitism stated. That's just what Kate Osamor accomplished.

"The Labour Party acted appropriately in moving quickly to remove Ms. Osamor, and we will be keeping an eye on the situation."

"Some people want to take the Party back to a time when opinions similar to those of Ms. Osamor were prevalent, and they have to be stopped."

"This is completely inappropriate," a representative for the Jewish Labour Movement continued.

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust has identified the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust, as well as the people who died in other genocides, that we have been remembering this week.

"It is wrong and offensive to unilaterally coopt the war in Gaza, despite the horrifying suffering there, onto that list."

The highest court of the United Nations declared on Friday that Israel needs to take all necessary precautions to deter acts of genocide in Gaza, but it refrained from imposing an immediate cease-fire.

An interim verdict was rendered by judges at the International Court of Justice in South Africa's genocide complaint against Israel.

25,900 Palestinians, primarily women and children, have died as a result of Israel's retaliatory attacks in Gaza, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas.

According to the BBC, the current conflict started on October 7 when Hamas stormed southern Israel, killing about 1,300 people—mostly civilians—and kidnapping 240 more.
