Amid war Joe Biden makes an unexpected trip to Ukraine
In the midst of Ukraine's conflict with Russia, US Vice President Joseph Biden paid an unexpected visit there.
The president's visit is intended to reaffirm America's "unwavering and unflagging support to Ukraine's democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity," according to a release released by the White House on Monday.
Biden will meet with his colleague from Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in Kyiv as part of his itinerary, and they will "have a long talk" regarding America's support for Ukraine.
"I will announce the arrival of another another shipment of vital supplies, like as air surveillance radars, anti-armour systems, and artillery ammunition, to aid in shielding the Ukrainian people from aerial attack.
The statement continued, "And I will disclose that later this week, we will announce more sanctions against people and companies that are trying to avoid or support Russia's war machine."
Also, Biden intends to travel to Poland, which is next to Ukraine. While there, he will meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda and other eastern allies to discuss how to continue to help the Ukrainian people.
A few days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine one year ago, there will be an unscheduled visit.
On February 24, 2022, Russian military aggression against Ukraine started. It has persisted since then with no apparent end in sight.
