I don't fear losing my job at Liverpool, Klopp
After a string of Premier League losses, Jürgen Klopp claims he is not afraid of the firing squad, but he also acknowledges that struggling Liverpool must perform as he gets ready to take on Chelsea without a manager.
After Saturday's agonizing 4-1 loss to reigning champions Manchester City, Liverpool, which agonizingly missed out on a historic quadruple last season, sits eight points outside the top four.
With the firing of Graham Potter over the weekend and the departure of Brendan Rodgers from Leicester, Klopp leads his club to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
This week, Antonio Conte "mutually agreed" to leave Tottenham.
This season has seen a record-breaking 13 management changes in the English top division.
At his pre-game press conference on Monday, Klopp remarked, "I think the elephant in the room is probably why I am still sitting here in this crazy world. "The last man standing."
The German acknowledged that the club, which is accustomed to winning championships, has been let down by the current campaign.
I'm conscious that I'm sitting here due to the past and not what we accomplished this season, Klopp stated. "If this were my first season, it would be a little different," the speaker said. Although though his side is currently seventh in the standings and has a difficult road ahead of them to reach the Champions League for the upcoming season, he claimed he was not afraid of the future.
There's no need to be terrified, he added, adding that he didn't believe Graham was afraid. "I am here to perform. I'm not here to serve as a talisman or as a prop for a wall mural.
"I am here to perform. I am positive about that. Nothing else is on my mind.
The 55-year-old Klopp, who has led Liverpool since 2015, reaffirmed his dedication to the team.
I'm totally in," he declared. "There is no denying that. We must organize it. We can't just keep playing the way we do occasionally—not always, thank God, but occasionally, and that's just not acceptable.
"I'm really disappointed in us that we act in this way, but because it has already happened, we now need to find a solution, and we are continually working on that."
