According to sources, the grandmother, who lives in the same home as her son, had complained that they were depriving her of food. According to information obtained, she allegedly set the house on fire while the family members were asleep, killing three of them—her son Victor, wife Racheal, and one of the grandchildren—while the other child is currently in critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owo. Korede Michael, an eyewitness, described the tragic incident to TV crews in Akure, saying, "We spotted the house on fire at 2:00 am on the weekend and had to break the window to rescue everyone in the house
"The mother lit the house on fire while her son Victor Oloro, wife Rachael, and children Toluwani and Blessing were all present. She sprinkled some dried palm fronds and the small amount of gasoline her son had stored in a gallon (for a generator) about the home before setting it on fire.
"Before other community members joined me in saving them, I was the first to discover the fire and jumped into the house.
"We immediately procured a car to take them to the government hospital in Akure.
