RAPE CASE: Dani Alves requests to be held in "solitary" after his wife left him over a charge of club rape
After his wife left him over accusations that he had raped a woman, DANI Alves reportedly wanted to be kept in his cell for the majority of the day.
Since his arrest on January 20 on suspicion of assaulting the woman in a Barcelona nightclub at the end of last year, the former Brazil and Barcelona football star has been incarcerated.
Despite rumors that the model had asked for a divorce, his wife Joana Sanz visited him in the Brians 2 Prison in Catalonia in February.
According to sources, he is "very saddened and very anxious" after his wife Joana, 29, told him she wants to break their marriage.
Cuatro claims that Alves, 39, prefers to spend the majority of each day "shut in his cell" in the jail or prison where he is being held.
It's understood that after previously sharing a cell with another prisoner, he is now on his own.
According to rumors, Alves has also engaged in a hunger strike and there are days when he doesn't consume any food. He is supposedly permitted daily visits to the jail, where he allegedly played his first game of prison football. It comes after Joana deleted the majority of the football player's images from her Instagram after he allegedly admitted to having consensual sex with his accuser after initially denying knowing her.The stunning Tenerife native, who wed former Barcelona defender Alves in 2017, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the rumors.
After being ordered to remain in detention by a judge in Barcelona, Alves was fired by the Mexican team UNAM Pumas.
Alves was detained on January 20 after a 23-year-old lady accused him of assaulting her on December 30 at the city's posh Sutton venue.
He has refuted the charges.
Alves has been incarcerated in a jail outside the city since a judge decided he should be held in custody.
Alves, who spent two stints at Barcelona before joining UNAM Pumas in Mexico last year, insisted prior to his arrest that he had never met the woman who had been his accuser.
But the football player testified in court that they had had consensual relations.
His attorney stated that in order to hide his "infidelity," the man altered his account of the alleged sexual assault.
Joana lamented the loss of the "two pillars in my life" after the football player was arrested.
After deciding to be questioned about the charges, Alves flew into Barcelona.
It was previously revealed that the lady had accused Alves of raping and slapping her in the restroom of a nightclub.
Additionally, she is alleged to have recounted seeing the football player's private tattoo while he was still wearing clothing.
According to reports, the distraught woman quickly told her companions what had happened, and the bouncers then called the police.
Pumas withdrew his contract when he was detained, and they are now apparently suing him for £4 million in damages for breach of the agreement.
