Rapper Nipsey Hussle's killer was found guilty and given a minimum 60-year prison term.
Ermias Asghedom, better known by his stage name Nipsey Hussle, was killed outside of his South Los Angeles apparel store in 2019 by Eric R. Holder, Jr. Holder was convicted of first-degree murder in July.
Eric R. Holder, Jr. was found guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter for the deaths of Ermias Asghedom, a Grammy-nominated artist from South Los Angeles. Holder was not eligible for the death penalty and was widely expected to receive a life sentence. Hussle was struck by gunfire at least 10 times, after which Holder kicked him in the head and fled the scene. Before his death, he had reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department to discuss ways to help prevent gang violence in the neighbourhood. He won two posthumous Grammy awards and was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His murder has sparked an outpouring of support from fans across the country.
