The viral dance song "Naatu Naatu," composed by M.M. Keeravani and written by Chandrabose, became the first song from an Indian film to win the Oscar for best original song after the quartet lost out on the honor.

Following a vivacious performance that included the well-known "hook dance" moves from the popular movie "RRR," modified for the Dolby Theatre stage, the Telugu-language song was declared the winner.

One of the most anticipated moments of the evening came when Rihanna performed her nominated song, "Lift Me Up," immediately following her career-spanning Super Bowl halftime show, during which she announced her second pregnancy.

The diva sang "Lift Me Up" from the follow-up "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" while wearing black and silver beaded wide leg leggings, elbow-length black leather gloves, and swaths of sheer tulle draped over her growing belly.
It was a tender but heartfelt ode to the late Chadwick Boseman, who played the lead in the original movie before succumbing to colon cancer.

A$AP Rocky supported Rihanna after her final performance of the night, raising a champagne glass to the mother of his children and a global legend.

Then Lady Gaga gave a surprise performance of her nominated song "Hold My Hand," which she penned for the Tom Cruise blockbuster sequel "Top Gun: Maverick"; she wasn't originally scheduled to participate.
After walking the red carpet in high-end Versace with dramatic red lips and smoky eyes, Gaga pared down her appearance to fit her unpolished, sparsely-staged performance.

The versatile pop star, who has previously won an Oscar for her performance of "Shallow" from "A Star is Born," accessorized with Converse sneakers, a French braid, and barely-there makeup. She wore a black t-shirt and knee-ripped denim.

Before beginning her performance, Lady Gaga delivered a moving message, describing her song as "very personal," saying, "We need a lot of love to walk through this life.
