The EFCC has arrested a musician for defrauding a British man of £9,300 and an American of $2,000

Sanij-D, who was apprehended in the Federal Capital Territory's Kuje Area Council in Abuja, was also accused of defrauding an American, Diana Rosado Gonzalax, of $2,000.00.

The suspect defrauded his victims by using social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp applications with foreign phone numbers.

"Based on credible intelligence on the activities of a syndicate of internet fraudsters, Chidubem allegedly impersonated one Christopher Rossi, a marine engineer who fixes boats and pipelines in Singapore," the EFCC said in a statement on Monday. He was using Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp applications with foreign phone numbers to perpetrate and deceive his victims."

The Commission also stated that he will be charged in court as soon as the inquiry was completed.

In addition, the EFCC detained Chike Nosa Agada, an unregistered foreign exchange dealer, for allegedly committing a N2 billion fraud.

Agada, a 37-year-old native of Enugu State's Udi Local Government Area, was declared sought by the Commission on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, for gaining money by deception and stealing by conversion totaling N2 billion.

"He was arrested on Monday, October 16, 2023, at a residence in the Bourdillion, Ikoyi area of Lagos, during a sting operation by Commission operatives, following credible intelligence linking him to the alleged fraud." "He will be charged in court as soon as the investigations are completed," said the EFCC.

A mobile device was recovered from him after his detention.
